In the dizzying world of New York fashion, where size zero is the new 2, six is the new 8, and a bad hair day can end a career, Runaway magazine is the Holy Grail. Overseen with a finely manicured fist by Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) - the most powerful woman in fashion - Runway is a fearsome gauntlet for anyone who wants to make it in the industry. To make Runway the fashion bible of New York and therefore the world, Miranda has let nothing stand in her way - including a long line of assistants that didn't make the cut. It's a job no self-respecting person can survive, yet it's an opportunity a million young women in New York would kill for...

5 out of 100 Wasted Opportunity
Brian from Louth, 10 Apr 2007
Avoid this one - an opportunity to throw some barbs at the fasion industry is comlpetely wasted. Instead this comedy (ahem) sides with it, offering up lame situational dross. Only one saving grace: Meryl Streep, but even still she could have been so much more viscious!

40 out of 100 Very Good and Entertaining

Any girl will love this and might even catch a man's slight interest for it's insight to how business works. Worth it to watch the wardrobe changes alone, but it is so much more than that. Excellent movie.

25 out of 100 Comedy Lite
John from Donegal, 18 Aug 2007
An easy film to watch, I expected a satire of the fashion industry, but the writers seemed on their side from pretty early on, the size zero thing is seen as something to aspire to, which is not a healthy ideal to be advertising, and many of the storylines introduced weren't explored, but just left to die out. That said, the film really belongs to Meryl Streep, she oozes bile throughout, but I still ended up being on her side. If you want something undemanding but watchable then this is for you.

45 out of 100 fabulous.

inspirational power, a true stone faced wagon. streep is excellent in her role as the toughest dragon in a fashion magazine. she has the razon sharp sarcasm of absolutely fabulous without the farce. i really loved this film. even as a person with no interest in fashion i thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the business and was very impressed with the vast wardrobe displayed. at times the story is a bit wishy washy with american emotional drama, but streep is perfect. definitely watch this.

Terrible, shame on Meryl Streep. Not very funny and full of the usual stereotypes. Rubbish!

5 out of 100 Terrible
Thomas from Dublin, 22 May 2007
I have never seen a more predictable film. Ten seconds into the film and I knew the entire route it was about to take! Further, there is simply no way that any business could work like that, much as there is no way the similar themed magazine "Blush" from "Just Shoot Me" would not work. Predictable and not as hilarious as I had hoped it to be. Its only saving grace being Miss Streep, but her choice to do this role has dented my confidence in her future roles. Watch this at your own risk!

5 out of 100 Don't!
Suzanne from Dublin, 22 Jul 2007
This movie is so bad, its not even funny. Anyone who has read the book will see that this is a very poor imitation. Anne Hathaway was a bad choice for this film. She's convincing in movies as a school girl but thats it. The edginess of the characters in the book is missing and that makes the movie dull and boring.

40 out of 100 Everyone's Movie
Celia from Mayo, 07 Jun 2007
Not sure how to describe this movie. It has so much in it that us 'common' people go through in life :) as well as what the 'upper class' people seem to be. Totally enjoyed it and it's a definite must for anyone one who wants to have a little smile on their faces when the movie ends. Luv it.
