Felt cheated somehow!?

A fan of Scorsese's work & really wanted to see The Departed hearing about the hype, Oscar wins & nominations.
It should have been a good & enjoyable movie but I was disappointed & felt cheated somehow as some may knows it is an exact remake of Internal Affairs with a bigger budget set in the US. After seeing the original it has nothing new or exciting to add.
English speakers too lazy to read subtitles watch The Departed, people wanting the magic of Hong Kong cinema watch Internal Affairs.

Fast paced, intelligent movie, easy to tell it's a martin scorsese. You have to pay attention in order to keep track of what's going on, but I thought that just made it all the more enjoyable. Phenomenal cast- leo de caprio is classic acting talent. Perfect mix of thriller,action and love story (of sorts!). Rent it now!

Was a really great film with so many twists you couldn't predict the end. Great cast too. Maybe a little bit too long though.

I enjoyed this film but it didnt have the classic scenes that you associate with Scorsese, you remember parts of Goodfellas but will you remember the Departed in ten years time. I thought it didnt say much that was not already rehearsed about Irish America, maybe with a better screenplay he could have done so much more.

A very compelling effort from M Scorcese. He lures goodfellas fans in with replaying of some music from that classic, which might be a cheapshot, but otherwise no complaints really. One superb scene with the two main protaganists, and Nickolson and Winstone are suitably nasty, and enjoy themselves to boot. A definite yes for any fans of american gangster films, although without quite hitting the heights of the Goodfellas/Godfather trilogy.

Poor imitiation of Internal Affair

Why watch a poor copy when you can watch the much better original, Internal Affair? Not only that but Internal Affair 2 adds to the story ( & character depth also). The only orginal thing about the Departed is the silly ending that is tacked on at the end. Oh, couldn't finish this review without mentioning the terrible Irish accents... brutal!! The sound of fingernails being scrapped across a blackboard sounds better!
