National Treasure: The Book of Secrets

In this follow up to the box-office hit National Treasure treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) once again sets out on an exhilarating, action-packed new global quest to unearth hidden history and treasures. When a missing page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth surfaces, Ben's great-great grandfather is suddenly implicated as a key conspirator in Abraham Lincoln's death. Determined to prove his ancestor's innocence, Ben follows an international chain of clues that takes him on a chase from Paris to London and ultimately back to America. This journey leads Ben and his crew not only to surprising revelations - but to the trail of the world's most treasured secrets.

Watchable. Haven't seen the first one so I can't compare one with the other. The children enjoyed the movie.

Typical "indiana Jones" type treasure hunt/adventure. Good unchallanging viewing.

30 out of 100 Nonsense, but fun.
John from Donegal, 19 Aug 2008
Nic Cage on another treasure hunt, fighting the baddies and the authorities along the way. This was very similar to the original. If you're looking for an action film which makes no sense, insists that the Americans are good guys, and every other nationality are a bit thick, then this is the film for you. Not a bad way to waste a couple of hours, but I felt guilty after watching it for enjoying it so much and had to read a Sean O'Casey play to feel more intellectual again.

25 out of 100 Sunday Movie
Attila from Tipperary, 09 Dec 2008
Rainy weekend? The whole familiy bored at home? Here You have this neutral, tapid, constrained lemonade. Everybody will like it and forget it soon after. Even the poor acting can’t take our mind off Cage’s sticky wig. This movie is a soft timekiller. I am affraid I will rent it again, because I will forget that I have seen this already.

25 out of 100 National Treasure - The Book of Secrets
Tania from Clare, 10 Oct 2008
The film is entertaining but lacked a gripping story line. Nicholas Cages performance wasnt very believeable at times and lacked the enthusiasm needed to create the drama during the movie. Plus where are his side burns? it looks like he is wearing a wig which is distracting. Its watchable on a sunday evening.

40 out of 100 Good all-rounder - rent it!
Fergal from Dublin, 23 Jun 2008
Has everything the first one had albeit a little less exciting but still worthy of renting. Really like the main cast in this series. Hope there's more. A great franchise. FYI: you donlt have to have seen the 1st one to rent this but it's great too.

20 out of 100 weekdays movie
Stephan from Meath, 23 Jul 2008
Well? what can you expect from a second movie when the first one was not even really good. However, I had the impression that they didn't even try to make this adventure "realistic"...But still worth to kill time during an evening weekdays
