I love Werner Herzog. The director of 'Nosferatu the Vampyre' and 'Aguirre, Wrath of God' here, in 'Fitzcarraldo', details the obsessive mind of yet another man compelled to committing a ridiculous and hubris act. Its slow and labouring but, as Roger Ebert wrote, you will at least be able to say you sat through it .. and witnessed, it should be added, a ship being dragged over a mountain. Apparently, the natives were the real deal .. and even asked Herzog is they wanted him to kill Kins

Excellent!

It's excellent. So different than most run of the milll films. A little dated and there is probably a good remake in this, as long as its kept as simple as the original. Kinski was great at the unassuming role.
