Ron Howard's epic romantic drama stars Tom Cruise as a 19th-century Irish farmer who is joined on his pursuit for land and freedom in America by the daughter of a wealthy land baron (Nicole Kidman). The couple encounters a series of adventures and hardships en route to claim territory during the Oklahoma Land Rush.

Caught this again recently. It's not Tom Cruises' finest hour by far but for us Irish it's a hilarious watch. The American view of our culture and our accents in particular is quite funny. That said it's not the worst movie ever made and has some things to recommend it, Tom Cruise is not one of them though.

Very good film, however the irish accents of Tom Cruise and Nickole Kidman grated on my ears but apart from that I really enjoyed the film :-).
