Franco Nero stars as Django, the mysterious lone drifter who, dragging a coffin behind him, arrives at a bleak mud-drenched town. He saves the life of a prostitute, Maria, who is being abused by both a group of Mexican bandits and by Ku Klux Klan-like fanatics under the command of a corrupt mayor. Loyal to none, Django is caught in the middle of the violent feud between the two groups and armed with his devastating revolving machine gun, Django will endure mutilative violence as he fights for his life... One of the greatest Spaghetti Westerns ever made, and without a doubt the most influential, Sergio Corbucci's iconic masterpiece Django is a landmark piece of cinema revered by film critics and Western genre fans alike. Originally banned in several countries (and denied a certificate by the BBFC in the UK until 1993), the film made an international star of Franco Nero and, worldwide, spawned over 50 unauthorised sequels. Fully restored and transferred from the original camera negative, this is without doubt the most complete, beautiful and definitive version of 'Django' ever seen.

5 out of 100 Has aged badly
Conor from Cork, 18 Dec 2007
Agree with Pauls review above. This is a very slow moving outdated movie which offers nothing new or interesting to anybody who has seen a spaghetti western before. Dubbing makes it almost a comedy but not quite. Do yourself a favour and give this one a miss!

10 out of 100 Django: very dated
Paul from Laois, 13 Sep 2007
Spaghetti western not unlike The Clint Eastwood series. Very badly dubbed. May have been groundbreaking in its day but tirred and dated now.

40 out of 100 Mad kind of western
Mark from Dublin, 27 Aug 2008
It is probably a real cult classic I enjoyed it for its gritty and raw appeal that it delivered.
