Bad Blake (Jeff Bridges) is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (Maggie Gyllenhaal), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician.

40 out of 100 Great job, Jeff
Arlene from Wexford, 20 Aug 2010
We really enjoyed this movie and were so happy for Jeff Bridges when he won the oscar for the role. His character is a lost, wild, and sad person when movie begins and it was interesting watching him evolve into a better place. Music was good. Maggie G. and Robert Duval were also fabulous, but did not think Colin Farrell was cast in the right role.

Worth watching for Jeff Bridges alone, and if you like country music and great scenery from areas like New Mexico then its a bonus. Colin Farrell was a surprise, was that him really singling ? If so, then not bad.

40 out of 100 Surprisingly good
Fionn from Wexford, 25 Mar 2011
I really liked this, a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. Jeff Bridges is as charismatic as ever and a great singer too. Maggie Gyllenhall has very good chemistry with Bridges and looks very nice in this film. Even the child actor isn't as annoying as child actors can be. The music really made this film. T Bone Burnett's hand is evident in the quality of the tracks used. Even Colin Farrell sang well, he was very hard to make out, his diction needed work. Rent it.

10 out of 100 Depressing
Regina from Meath, 19 Aug 2010
I really wanted to love this film but I found it very very slow moving, yes Jeff Bridges is a great actor and he did a great job and probably deserved an Oscar, although I don't think his win was solely based on this performance but more of he was due it. However the movie itself I just found depressing, sorry but I want a movie to escape to and enjoy, this just didn't do it for us. I also ended up fast forwarded during the movie which is never a good sign.

35 out of 100 Crazy Heart
Ben from Mayo, 11 Apr 2011
This 2009 American movie is a musical-drama movie. Its director and writter (Scott Copper) is based on the novel, which was written in 1987. A good thing about this movie is that I warmed to the 57 year-old alcholic singer and songwritter that is the main character "Bad" blake. Who earns his living on one-night stands. I liked this movie but its the kind of movie that I would only watch once.

35 out of 100 For the singing alone
Lee from Kerry, 29 May 2011
Perforamnces are all excellent but the story is sad and long anad couldnt hold my attention. Highlight for me was the duet with Colin Farrell. I am so so impressed with the singing of both Colin Farrell and Jeff Bridges. Robert Duvall and Colin Farrell were both a wonderful surprise seeing as they were not mentioned in the credits at their request. Sorry if this is a spoiler.
