A can of worms is opened within the Irish Catholic Church following two controversial incidents, the suicide of Frank Sweeney, a parish priest and the expulsion of Daniel McLaughlin, a young trainee priest from a nearby seminary, on the grounds that he was open to the sexual advances of a male colleague. A local journalist, David Foley, is convinced that Sweeney's death and Daniel's expulsion are linked. Desperate to clear his good name and be re-instated, Daniel agrees to talk to Foley. As the story gathers momentum, the Church closes ranks.

A surprise, a very entertaining surprise.

A strikingly timely movie. Sometimes the truth is just in front of our noses and we refuse to see it until it blocks out all other views.
If you're honest about life and the Catholic Church, you'll enjoy this movie. If you're not, you'll have a lot to think about.

Conspirancy of Silence

Excellent. Gripping recount of corruption in the church and society in Ireland 1970's, social issues concerning celibacy for Catholic priests and homosexuality. Cover up, very well conveyed. Highly recommended.

OMG this is dreadful even for its time it was a lode of c... Don’t waste your time with it.
However it did have heart and it dose try to highlight a very serious and controversial subject but fails on most levels and makes you cringe at times
