This is a day Dante will never forget. His day rudely begins at 6am, when he discovers that he has to work on his day off: a hilarious day in which he has to survive his girlfriend's graphic sexual confessions, a mad hockey team and a constant stream of offensive customers. The director Kevin Smith, an ex-employee of the Quick Stop convenience store, filmed 'Clerks' in the store after hours. A purveyor of now classic razor sharp dialogue, Smith was recently given the Independent Spirit Award at the 2005 Empire Magazine Awards.

35 out of 100 Check out Clerks
Brian from Mayo, 20 Nov 2007
Clerks is a cult movie, and its easy to see why it became so. The style and content must have been a refreshing blast when it first appeared. Watching it for the first time today, it comes across as funny and touching. This is greatly helped by a fantastic performance by actor Brian O'Halloran in the lead role. There are some minus points - this film introduced the annoying Jay and Silent Bob characters - but overall this is worth seeing.

25 out of 100 Average, very, very average...
Alan from Dublin, 08 May 2009
Clerks is way, way over-rated. Yes it's funny in parts and yes it is watchable but certainly not one to get over excited about. I think some of the previous reviewers might have lost the run of themselves with this one!!! Middle of the road, edging towards a 6 but no more!!!

25 out of 100 Just OK
Brian from Dublin, 01 Jul 2011
At this stage (2011) a very dated-looking late-80's/early-nineties grunge/slacker low key film. Has the odd laugh all the same. Everyone looks awful

Too funny for words !! Probably would not appeal to everyone - like the easily offended.. But for anyone else - it's hilarious...
