30 out of 100 Good effort, not quite right.
John from Donegal, 17 Aug 2009
The City of Ember is created underground to save mankind. Meant to last for 200 years, the details are lost and the inhabitants continue to live in the crumbling city, unaware of why they are there and what is outside. An excellent plot, most well acted (I think Bill Murray was woefully miscast) the special effects are good, up until the end, then they let the film down. Could have been better done, needed more money spent on it.

20 out of 100 What a pity!
Dean & Steffi from Meath, 31 Mar 2009
Seemed like a good cast and was going somewhere.. but then it would appear their budget went somewhere also and with a movie set in a sort of post modern mystery world, it needed a bit more fright or something. Panned out really dismally and went on way too long to justify itself! Yawn! Zzzzzzzzz... Sleepsies now!

30 out of 100 Why not.
Dave from Dublin, 18 May 2009
A top film for kids although i would recommend you read them the book instead. A lot of the imagination of the book is lost on the screen but it still holds up as an entertaining movie. Dont expect anything to exciting.

30 out of 100 Charming Tale
Andrew from Dublin, 15 May 2009
Well acted, charming post apocalyptic tale. Came to this movie with low expectations after seeing the reviews, but actually enjoyed the sets, the storyline and Bill Murray. Predictable, but enjoyable. Worth watching.

20 out of 100 Lacking Something.
Alan from Dublin, 08 Apr 2009
A good idea for a movie but wasn't fleshed out enough. The set up of the story was far too short and the end seemed to come out of nowhere ! That said the kids would probably enjoy it.
