“Baraka”, an ancient Sufi word with forms in many languages, can simply be translated as a blessing, or as the breath, or essence of life form which the evolutionary process unfolds. Baraka was photographed in 70mm on six continents in 24 countries including such diverse places as Tanzania, China, Brazil, Japan, Kuwait, Cambodia, Iran and Nepal, together with major U.S. and European locales. Set to an atmospheric soundtrack inspired by various rituals and nature itself, Baraka is acclaimed for capturing the glories and violent calamities that nature and man have brought to planet Earth, as it tells the spellbinding story of the tumultuous interaction of Earth and man.

50 out of 100 an amazing experience
Adriano from Dublin, 07 May 2007
Mesmerizing combination of imagery and music shot all over the world and what a world we live in! So beautifull at times and so painful and sad at others. This movie has shown me some places that i will definitely visit at some point and is also a very good addition to my dvd collection. I would gladly recommend this to everyone who loves cinema.

No dialogues at all in this movie, but the images are amazing and the music well guessed. A movie for a good mediation which sometimes is not harmful

No dialogue what so ever! This is not a film. As for the wonderful scenery. Id rather watch an episode of BBC's Plant Earth series. The film tries to be all worldly, the scenery isnt even that good. you'd have to be strapped down and chemicaly numb to actually enjoy this. Their is a hidden undercurrent trying to make the viewer feel guilty for being human. (the bad humans wrecking environment) A bit like Al Gores "An Inconvinent Truth".

15 out of 100 Baraka
Sean from Kilkenny, 29 Oct 2008
Oh dear. Glossy National Geographic -style pics to a dreary Enya-like soundtrack drawing our attention to the colourful rituals of native tribes and the terrible things we're doing to them.

35 out of 100 Beautiful film
laura from Dublin, 27 Jul 2009
Sometimes feels like watching a nature programme without the commentary, but it means that you are able to focus more on the visual beauty of the world. Beautifully shot, with vibrant colours highlighting the diverse landscape and cultures. The music can lull you to sleep though, so suggest watching this when you are wide awake!
