30 out of 100 Surprising Enjoyable
John from Mayo, 14 Jun 2007
I had no great expectations of this film and as a result I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing exciting happens at all but Paul Giomatti is excellent in the lead and it is was an entertaining way to pass a couple of hours on a rainly Sunday afternoon.

40 out of 100 Quirky gem
Hazel from Dublin, 27 Jun 2007
A great indie gem charting the life of Harvey Peskar - a lonely, depressive living in Cleveland who decided to write about his life in comic book form. Lots of black comedy moments in this movie, it's a bit off-beat so maybe not for everyone. I loved it though.

30 out of 100 American spendor
ANITA from Kerry, 08 May 2007
Well acted, good enjoyable story, bit of an anti-climax at the end.

45 out of 100 Excellent
Tony from Wicklow, 24 Sep 2007
Brilliant presentation of the gritty discontent of the modern age - I haven't read the graphic novels, but the constant reference to them, and presentation of them, shows loyalty. The switching between the actor and the man himself is seemless and the support cast do well especially his nerdy friend and adoring fan - loved it!

30 out of 100 Good
Maggie from Mayo, 23 Apr 2009
Enjoyable little film, good characters and good acting. No car chases, super-heroes or explosions so don't watch if you have the attention-span of a gnat. But if you like quiet movies about people then you'll like this one.

Giamatti is great in this little gem of a film.

0 out of 10 Boring
Seamus from Limerick, 02 Feb 2009
I could only stick 30 minutes of this. I found it extremly boring. I just can't find anything positive to say about it
