Voted "one of the 10 funniest movies ever made" by the American Film Institute, Airplane! is a masterpiece of off-the-wall comedy. Featuring Robert Hays as an ex-fighter pilot forced to take over the controls of an airliner when the flight crew succumbs to food poisoning; Julie Hagerty as his girlfriend/ stewardess/ co-pilot; and a cast of all-stars including Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Leslie Nielsen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar…and more! Their hilarious high jinks spook airplane disaster flicks, religious zealots, television commercials, romantic love…the list whirls by in rapid succession. And the story races from one moment of zany fun to the next!

This is *the* original spoof film- keep an eye out for Leslie Nielsen in his first comedy role, believe it or not..

50 out of 100 Airplane
Ivan from Cork, 04 May 2007
Original comedy from the men who have since created the Scary Movie films. This is the one that started spoof films and it is a complete laugh from start to finish. I just hope you don't develop a "drinking problem" from watching it!!

50 out of 100 This is the funniest film ever made, bar none.
Alistair from Dublin, 01 Apr 2008
This film is to comedy what "Black hawk down" is to action, or "Casablanca" is to Drama. Just becuase it's a comedy, doens't mean that a film can't be a well-crafted piece of entertainment. This is the finest example of a comedy film every made. It's relentless, well thought out and very well executed. It puts today's gross-out and rom-coms in their place. This is the mother of all comedy films.

50 out of 100 Comedy Gold
Aidan from Dublin, 12 Dec 2008
This is just one of the best comedy movies ever. There's hardly a moment when I wasn't laughing, watching this again. You shouldn't laugh at some of the slapstick but it gets me every time. 'Surely you can't be serious?' 'I am serious....and don't call me Shirley'
