Romances end in blood and the frail hopes of individuals are torn apart in a vile karmic continuity of colonialism, civil war and occupation. After surviving Japanese colonization, Korea became the first war zone of the Cold War. The legacy of war remains today in this divided country. Three forlorn teenagers, Chank-guk, Jihum and Eunok are figures in the landscape of this story, which highlights the global implications of a very Korean reality. None of them is able to escape the withering pull of tragedy. All desperate pleas for love and redemption are returned stamped in red with Address Unknown.

Different - but not in a good way!

I like the odd foreign language film, and especially enjoy the different take on life as shown by the directors, but Address Unknown just didn't do it for me. It is looks like it was filmed with a couple of hand-held cam, and there seems to have been no budget for sets of FX. Set against the backdrop of a U.S. army base in Korea in the early Seventies, it is mainly about the struggle of daily life, poverty, oppression and the complexities of social values and levels. Unremittingly bleak

A very bleak film about life in Korea in the 1970's. It seems that every character in the film is undergoing some sort of trauma, with no 'normal' or well-adjusted characters, and so they become unbelievable. Both landscape and characters are unremittingly bleak. This film contains no hope. However, apart from despair and violence, the them is unclear. I often enjoy dark, films, but this film seems to have little other purpose or meaning. And the American actors are very poor.
