Blade 2 vs. Precinct 13
MacDara from Galway, 03 Apr 2008
Set in an Alaskan village during the month when the sun doesn't rise, the town is ravaged by bloodthirsty killers. A small group of survivors fight to get through the titular period. Based on a graphic novel, so I hope the source material is better. The vampires are incredibly cheesy. Apart from that it's a decent horror/suspense film, with a fine performance from Hartnett but you'll feel you've seen it before. The end feels like a tacked-on, anticlimactic afterthought.

30 Days of nights
Allan from Meath, 02 Jun 2008
Enjoyed this movie although never a big fan of horror movies, it is a mix between a Cohen Bros. and Blade. set in the norhtern town in Alaska. The town is cut off from the outside every winter for 30 days of nights, usually run of the mill for the residents but this time some visitors have decided to make it more difficult than usual.
The movie is very suspensfull and keeps you hanging on till the last day of nights.
Worth a watch i'll give it a 7.

Brilliant!!!
Aishling from Longford, 15 May 2008
I really enjoyed this, not the best vampire/horror movie ever but it was good!!!
Josh Hartnett is very bad in lead roles I think and it should have been someone else but OMG Danny Huston makes up for it and was brilliant!!! I love him and want to see him in more movies now!!! I loved him in The Proposition and I would highly recommend that movie.
Ben Foster was great to and if you liked him in this I recommend you watch 3:10 To Yuma. Brilliant movie over all!!!

30 Days of night

not being the sort of person to watch horror/fright movies I was a little unsure about getting this but I am glad I did.
the premiss is good vampires in the arctic at the time of little or no natural light. the story worked well and the actors were all very natural, look out for the little girl!, over all an enjoyable film but I wont be going skiing in the arctic soon!!

Terrifying at times
Wayne from Kildare, 19 May 2008
Being a life-long avid vampire film fanatic, I had high hopes for this. Having missed its brief release on the big screen , I waited patiently for the "dispatched" notice from Screenclick.com and finally sat down to watch it, bizarrely while it was still bright outside, at 8pm on a Tuesday evening. I was in no way disappointed by this movie and felt utterly satisfied in the end... "30 Days of Night" combines all of the things you expect in a vampire film: suspense, terror, blood-curdling action

30 Days Of Night
KIM from Louth, 21 Jul 2008
The kind of film you have to watch twice, as you are guaranteed to get distracted by something more interesting during the first watch (like picking lint from your bellybutton). Hartnett was good as always, but as previously mentioned, I am surprised he agreed to do this film, because his wonderous self aside, it's pretty standard vampire (on ice...) movie fodder. The gore is full on, and i did manage to watch it all the way through the second time, but i wouldn't bother watching it again

'30 Days of Night'

Much, much better than I expected. A nice balance of excitement and action without over-doing the violence. A really good, fun, no-brainer.

Surprising!
Alan from Dublin, 12 Jun 2008
I honestly had not heard much about this movie before watching it. I didnt even know Josh Hartnett was in it until it began. However having read the synopsis beforehand i wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. The story was, i thought, very original. A unique take on an overdone genre. I found it to be too gory at some stages and thought that the 'less is more' approach would have worked better. Overall an enjoyable,if somewhat unnerving, viewing experience.
