The clock is ticking on Monty Brogan's freedom: in 24 hours, he goes to prison for seven long years. Once a kingpin Manhattan, Monty is about to say goodbye to the life he knew - a life that opened doors to New York's swankiest clubs but also alienated him from the people closest to him. In his last day on the outside, Monty tries to reconnect with his father, who's never given up on his son, and gets together with his two closest friends from the old days, Jacob and Slaughtery. Also in the mix is his girlfriend, Naturelle, who might (or might not) have been the one that tipped off the cops. Monty's not sure of much these days but with time running out, there are choices to be made...

40 out of 100 Can Edward Norton ever put a foot wrong?
Michael from Dublin, 11 Apr 2007
Excellent movie. Monty has a very matter of fact view of going to prison and takes his last day of freedom to tie up lose ends and to help those around him come to terms with his conviction.

40 out of 100 25th Hour
Thomas from Cork, 06 Sep 2007
If a little slow in places, this is quite a good film, showing the faults and assests of a man who has nobody to blame but himself for his current situation. Definately worth watching.

anthony from Dublin, 31 May 2007
This is one of the best films about and its very underestimated spike lee has the story to a T, and the performance from the cast makes it such a better film than most one to watch....

Very deep and full of character movie. It makes you go silent, listen and wonder how tricky life is for some people.

20 out of 100 Reasonable viewing
Samantha from Dublin, 02 Jun 2008
I am not a huge Spike Lee / Edward Norton fan, as I always find the films quite hard going - this was no exception. It was enjoyable, but wasn't entertainment at it's easiest......you have to concentrate if you are going to fully understand this film.

35 out of 100 Good, just not what I expected
Eamon from Meath, 21 Jan 2011
From watching the trailer I expected this to be a thriller centered around Norton on the day before he is due to go to prison. Will he go on the run, will he kill himself, will he get revenge on whoever sold him out? In truth this is quite a heavy drama about friendship and knowing who you can rely on in the darkest of times. It is good though.

5 out of 100 25th Hour
Colin from Longford, 15 Jun 2009
Only rent this if you're a big Spike Lee fan. If this is representative of his talent he won't be winning many more fans. Edward Norton is usually good, but the script was so dire it made him appear dis-interested. All the characters were grumpy and miserable, and 30 minutes into the film I decided I really couldn't care less what happened.

50 out of 100 excellent
noel from Limerick, 05 Feb 2008
having seen edward norton in american history x, this proves that he can carry a film and create an atmosphere unique to his acting abilities. the movie itself was interesting and made captivating by norton's presence, will certainly watch again or even buy.

40 out of 100 strong story
Nuala from Dublin, 15 Jan 2010
I had this for a long time before I got around it viewing it and in the end I had to force myself to watch it...glad to say I was pleasantly surprised and I really enjoyed this film. It had that nice indie feel to it and a good strong story, well told.
