For a New York cop and his witness, the distance between life and death just got very short! Boozy and disillusioned, aging cop Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis) is assigned the seemingly ordinary task of escorting a fast-talking witness (Mos Def) from police custody to a courthouse. However, even with 2 hours to make 16 blocks, this is no ordinary court case and there are forces inside and outside the police who will do anything to prevent the duo from reaching their destination alive...

25 out of 100 for willis movie lovers

it 's not his best work but still worth watching. my biggest complaint is why they hired a guy to act beside him that you will have huge problems trying to understand what he's saying. How this guy make it as an actor i'll never understand.

30 out of 100 16 blocks, a review. Good.

Good. Bruce Willis overplays his tired and hungover cop with very unconvincing facial expressions and an overdone limp. David Morse propably shines best as a corrupt cop, pretending to be so, as a result of zealous pursuit of justice. Mos Def plays an excellent role as a witness / small time conman who got caught up in a situation way beyond his control. Some good moments throughout.. a little beyond believable, but hey, its the movies! I enjoyed it!

15 out of 100 Could Try Harder
Caroline from Laois, 25 Apr 2008
OK film, but expected much more from Bruce. Must agree with other person there about the annoying voice of the dipstick of a 'villian'... I think it was way too long, could have moved on a bit faster. Saw it in the cinema and was annoyed I didn't wait for DVD so I could fast forward the slooooooooooooooooow bits.. of which there are many... not a fast moving 'cops and shoot 'em' type thing. Just 'OK'. Wait for it on TV, don't use up a rental slot here.

An ok 'cops and robbers' type movie, passes the time nicely, but don't be expecting a pulp fiction. What was interesting however was the performence of Bruce Willis, which was very good, he looks absolutely terrible in the movie, make up and effects are excellent in this regard as his character is a burned out drunken cop. Worth a gander (just about)

25 out of 100 It's Bruce Willis all over again
Ken from Louth, 20 Dec 2009
I had been warned that this wasn't very good but as it turned out it was OK but just OK. With a script that seems to have borrowed from every film of this genre it was never going to be anything special. Willis reprises the same cop he's been playing for years and even his alcoholism can't disguise that this is just a typical Willis film. Not bad enough to annoy anyone but a fairly indifferent couple of hours.

5 out of 100 16 Blocks
Robert from Kildare, 14 Aug 2007
I found it weak, meaningless, and typical of the Hollywood Movie that relies on a big name for the profits, and the fact that the film never get's going means noting to the money-men of Hollywood. I found myself dozing in and out of this flick and I wouldn't recommend it to fans with an interest in a movie with any substance.
